One Night Gordon River Cruise
Board our yacht “Stormbreaker” and depart from Strahan Wharf at 1.00pm to cruise the picturesque waters of Macquarie Harbour.
Following afternoon tea, you will arrive around 4pm, at the former penal settlement of Sarah Island, where we will take you ashore to discover the fascinating ruins and hear some tales of hardship and brutality.
Returning to the yacht in the afternoon, we will cruise the short distance to the entrance of the magnificent Gordon River, where our yacht meanders to the overnight destination of Heritage Landing. Now you are in the World Heritage Area, where a newly constructed walkway will surprise you with its 2000 year old Huon Pines and superb examples of many other forest species. You can also view the glow-worms after dark, a unique opportunity for you.
Following a scrumptious dinner, you can simply relax on deck with a coffee, or make the most wonderful echoes while gazing at the stars reflected on the glassy Gordon River. See about all tours
Rising early next morning, the river will offer you your best chance to capture its endlessly fascinating reflections on film, do some kayaking, or you can chase an elusive trout while the mist is still rising. Departing around 8.30am, breakfast is served while cruising downstream. On leaving the river we will aim to catch a breeze and complete a memorable sailing adventure amongst the majestic surrounding mountains of Macquarie Harbour, arriving back at Strahan at approximately 12noon.
